Board President and Founder- Dr. Robert H. Eklund
Bob, a retired M.D. and homeopath, is a board member of the international relief organization AMURT who has done disaster medical relief in several countries. He is a long-time meditator who has taught both yoga and meditation; he currently offers meditation courses twice a year. Bob started THW Inc. out of his desire to help others. Along with his other activities, he also has a permaculture farm near Knoxville.
Board Member- Lucius Irvin
Lucius is a husband, father of two children and a public school teacher. After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a B.A. in Religious Studies, Lucius served 3 terms with AmeriCorps. He found his passion working with families and young people and decided to get a Masters in Education. Since then he has worked with young people to deal with issues relating to mental health and drug addiction. He has also developed a website, Possibilities Exist, to support families and communities with mindfulness. Most recently Lucius was awarded $10,000 through the Great School Partnership to bring Mindfulness into public schools and conduct research with UT on the outcomes.
Board Treasurer- Laura Clemente
A retired Banking Center Manager and Financial Consultant, Laura now donates her time to charitable causes and organizations that assist families with basic necessities. She also assists Spanish speakers with translations into English. She is passionate about giving back to underserved local communities.
Board Secretary- Linda Sammataro
A retired university reference librarian, Linda is active in the Smoky Mountain Women of Wisdom group and the Knoxville, Tenn. Spirituality and Health Colloquy. She has a long-standing interest in spirituality and women’s issues.
